A History of Audio Excellence

1983
The Beginning
Franco Serblin founded Sonus Faber in 1983 in Vicenza, Italy, with the goal of creating high-fidelity loudspeakers that combined exceptional sound with handcrafted, artistic design. Serblin sought to elevate the experience of listening to music by blending technical precision with fine craftsmanship, making each speaker not just a tool for sound, but a work of art.

1983
Launch of the First Speaker: Parva
Sonus Faber’s first speaker, the Parva, debuted in 1983 with a wooden cabinet and precise craftsmanship. Its small form factor didn’t compromise its sound quality, setting the tone for the company’s signature focus on high-performance audio and meticulous attention to detail in design.

1991
Introduction of the Extrema
In 1991, Sonus Faber launched the Extrema, featuring a groundbreaking passive radiator system and materials like carbon fiber. It pushed the limits of speaker performance and became a legendary model among audiophiles, reinforcing Sonus Faber’s reputation for combining innovation with artisanal craftsmanship.

1993
A New Era of Craftsmanship
Inspired by violin maker Giuseppe Guarneri, the Guarneri Homage speaker introduced in 1993 combined advanced acoustics with luthier-style woodworking. This speaker marked a turning point for Sonus Faber, cementing the brand’s legacy of blending traditional craftsmanship with modern audio engineering.

2005
A Statement of Innovation
The Stradivari Homage, released in 2005, was Sonus Faber’s first floorstanding speaker with a curved cabinet designed to improve sound dispersion. It showcased the brand’s ability to innovate while maintaining its tradition of high-quality craftsmanship, setting new standards in speaker design.

2014
Branching out
While maintaining a home base in Vicenza, Italy, Sonus faber looks to the future through global connectedness. In addition to expanding product categories through the inclusion of custom installation and active loudspeakers, Sonus faber developed new partnerships in the automotive and marine industries, bringing our values and artistry to a wider audience and strengthening our authority in the luxury world.

2017
Introduction of the Homage Tradition Series
The Homage Tradition series, launched in 2017, paid tribute to Sonus Faber’s legacy with models like the Guarneri, Amati, and Serafino. The series integrated modern technologies with the brand’s signature use of wood, leather, and lute-shaped design, blending art and engineering for an elevated sound experience.
