dCS Rossini Master Clock

The Rossini Master Clock is a user-friendly Grade 1 master clock built on dCS’s pioneering developments in studio and home audio. Featuring three separate clock outputs capable of handling different frequencies, it allows Rossini DAC or Player users to easily benefit from the auto clocking mode. This ensures seamless optimization of audio from a variety of digital sources with minimal effort, improving performance and ease of use.

In any digital audio system, precise timing is crucial, as instability in sample timing—known as jitter—can lead to errors in data delivery to the DAC, causing inaccuracies in the reconstructed analog signal. While a DAC can serve as the system master clock, listening tests have shown that a high-quality, dedicated master clock is essential for achieving the best possible sound quality. dCS pioneered the use of external clocks in digital audio systems, and their clocking technology has been continually refined. The latest multi-stage Phase-Locked-Loop (PLL) system in the Rossini Master Clock sets world-class standards for jitter control, ensuring accurate timing and pristine audio delivery, even when managing troublesome incoming audio streams.

The Rossini Master Clock is designed for maximum flexibility, with output configurations that can be optimized for systems with various digital audio sources. It features dual crystal oscillators with microcontroller-enhanced temperature correction to improve stability and precision. The new dual frequency output and auto clocking mode, also used in the Vivaldi and Rossini ranges, minimize jitter, particularly with computer audio sources. Additionally, multi-stage regulation ensures the sensitive clock and PLL circuitry remains unaffected by digital interference. The chassis is crafted from aerospace-grade machined aluminum and equipped with tuned acoustic damping panels to reduce magnetic effects and vibration, further enhancing sound quality.
