Description

The Relentless Epic 1600 Mono Amplifier is a true balanced design, but unlike conventional bridged amplifiers, it uses a single front-end topology based on current mirror circuitry to derive the symmetrical plus and minus rails. Typical bridged amplifiers rely on two front-end circuits, making it nearly impossible to achieve perfect symmetry between the plus and minus rails. In the Relentless Epic 1600, distortion artifacts that appear on one half of the signal are also present on the other half, effectively canceling each other out. This unique single front-end circuit configuration allows the amplifier to deliver immense power with remarkably low distortion.

New input stage devices in the Relentless Epic 1600 provide a 300% increase in current compared to previous components, extending low and high-frequency performance through wider bandwidth and higher power. The amplifier does not employ any global negative feedback, which would otherwise compromise its performance. Instead, its open-loop linearity ensures exceptional clarity without the need for performance-robbing feedback. The gain circuits operate in the current domain, guaranteeing stable performance regardless of demand.

In line with the design philosophy of the Dan D’Agostino Audio Systems Momentum amplifiers, the Relentless Mono Amplifier offers a single XLR balanced input for simplicity and purity. Speaker connections are made through massive, custom-made gold-plated brass binding posts, with a special tool included to tighten speaker cables without damaging the terminals. The Relentless Epic 1600 Mono Amplifier retains the same chassis as the original Relentless, but with all electrical enhancements included in the upgrade. The original metalwork is kept, making it easy to upgrade any Relentless Amplifier to the Epic level.

With its 5.5-kilowatt power supply feeding over 100 output devices, the Relentless Epic 1600 Mono Amplifier effortlessly delivers 1,600 watts into 8 ohms. When connected to a 220-volt or greater AC mains outlet, it doubles its output to 3,200 watts into 4 ohms and 6,400 watts into 2 ohms. This massive power output is maintained with unwavering musical composure, whether at full power or at just 1 watt. As relentless as its creator, Dan D’Agostino, the Relentless Mono Amplifier stands as the pinnacle of audio performance and engineering.
