Definitive gets hands-on before the world does.
But don't worry, ours is on its way and will be here for you to audition soon.
This past weekend, a couple of members of the Definitive team had the rare opportunity to attend the global launch of Dan D’Agostino’s newest amplifier, marking a significant moment not only for the brand, but for high-end audio as a whole.
Being in the room as Dan himself introduced the product was something special. This wasn’t a scripted presentation or a marketing reveal—it was Dan, candid and passionate, walking through the thinking, history, and engineering philosophy behind a design that has been fifteen years in the making.

A Design That Started With a Blank Sheet
Dan opened by reflecting on the original Momentum amplifier, released fifteen years ago. At the time, it represented a dramatic shift away from the massive, industrial designs he was known for earlier in his career.
When he and his partner Petra founded the company, they started with nothing but a clean sheet of paper—and a shared belief that high-end audio lacked something deeply personal: a true sense of pride of ownership. The original Momentum was born from that idea, blending uncompromising performance with an unmistakably luxurious, sculptural design.
Standing there listening, it was clear this new amplifier was never about changing the Momentum’s identity. Dan spoke openly about how emotionally connected he is to that original form factor—and how important it was that the new design still felt instantly recognizable.

Why This Isn’t Just an Update
As Dan explained, the reality was simple: the original Momentum architecture had been pushed as far as it could go. Any meaningful improvement—particularly in power delivery—required an entirely new approach.
This is where things became especially compelling for our team. Dan walked through breakthroughs in input technology, ultra-fast devices originally developed for military and aerospace use, and a radically rethought regulated output stage—a concept he first explored decades ago, now finally executed without sonic compromise.
The result, as he described it, is an amplifier that behaves differently from anything else on the market:
-
Full voltage stability regardless of speaker impedance
-
Effortless dynamics even at whisper-quiet listening levels
-
No protection relays or capacitors in the signal path
-
A regulator that acts as both power foundation and intelligent safeguard
It was engineering talk, yes—but delivered with the excitement of someone still chasing better sound after 30+ years.

Hearing It—and Handling It—First
For our Definitive team, getting hands-on with the amplifier before public demos began was invaluable. Seeing the fit and finish up close, feeling the build quality, and understanding how every design decision ties back to performance reinforced why Dan D’Agostino products occupy a category of their own.
Dan described this amplifier as not an evolution, but a new performance envelope—one that delivers scale, control, and realism at levels normally associated with far larger, far heavier designs.
And just as important: it still looks and feels like a Momentum. Familiar, refined, confident—only now, unmistakably more powerful.

Why This Matters to Us
At Definitive, our goal has always been to bring our clients closer to the music—and closer to the people who build the products we believe in. Being present for this global launch allowed us to hear directly from Dan, ask questions, and understand not just what this amplifier does, but why it exists.
This is the kind of product that reminds you why high-end audio is so compelling: relentless curiosity, uncompromising execution, and an obsession with sound above all else.
We can’t wait to share it with you.
