About David Bowie Album
Bowie was an innovator throughout his career and was involved in Glam Rock, Progressive Rock and a variety of pop music. His 27th and final album, Blackstar, provides an intimate picture of his own death. Released just two days before Bowie died of liver cancer, Blackstar sold 181,000 copies in its first week, skyrocketing to #1 on the UK’s top 100 chart. With over 1.9 million copies sold, Blackstar was Bowie’s first album to find its way to the top of the US Billboard 200 charts, and the album also took home the titles of Best Alternative Music Album, Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical) and Best Recording Package at the 2017 Grammy Awards. Even two and a half years later, we’re still singing its praises.
